    What Is Google Photos?

Google Photos is an application of Google that helps users automatically store and manage their photos and videos. In addition, Google offers 15 GB of free cloud storage to each Google Account.

That data allowance gets shared across different applications of Google, and Google Photos is one of them. Google Photos is an AI-based application that helps users automatically sync, store, share and segment photos and videos. In addition, Google Photos offers a few additional features like editing pictures or creating collages.

    Difference Google photos Vs. OneDrive

Google Photos and OneDrive, both let the users store their valuable photos. But some differences separate the two of them. Judging the differences between two of these photo storages, one can choose which one is right for them.

So, here are a few differences that distinctly evaluate Google Photos and OneDrive.

    Google Photos & OneDrive

Google Photos specifically allow you to save your photos and videos. If compressed below sixteen MP, you can store unlimited photos in Google Photos.

But if you want to retain the original quality, the required storage will count against your Google Account storage allowance.

While Google Photos is specifically a photo-saving service, OneDrive supports saving data which includes photos. Unfortunately, there is no specific space for photos in OneDrive; you don’t get OneDrive Photos or other similar apps that Google offers.

    Storage And Prices

Google Photos have, and OneDrive offers a limited free storage allowance. So, for example, while Google allows 15 GB of free storage, OneDrive offers only 5 Gb. But you can extend the storage using specific data plans.

You can get 100 GB of free storage for a payment of $3 per month in OneDrive. In Google Drive, users can extend their cloud storage up to 10 TB for $50 per month.

    Supported Files

Google Photos and OneDrive differ in their capability of storing diverse types of files. In addition, since OneDrive is itself a cloud service, it offers more formats than Google Photos.

You can store files in JPEG, PNG, RAW, JPG TIFF, GIF, BMP, DIB, JFIF, JPE, CRW, ERF, KDC, MRW, NEF, and many other formats.

In Google Photos, there are very limited file support options available. There are only a few options like JPG, PNG, etc. But Google has Google Drive to spar with OneDrive in terms of supported files.

    Managing Photos

OneDrive’s algorithm arranges your photos in albums and date, location, or people. You can create albums manually. OneDrive also adds tags to your photos, although generic like animal, city, sunset, etc.

Google Photos has a better algorithm in terms of sorting your photos down to different sections and tags. Its smart machine algorithm adds proper tags to your photos. With Google Photos, you can keep your photos more organized than OneDrive.

    Uploading Your Photos

OneDrive offers you to upload your pictures individually and in bulk or album. This feature is available in both OneDrive and Google photos.

But Google has one advantage over OneDrive because of its Live Albums option. If you enable this feature, the app will detect any new pictures in your device and automatically upload them for backup.

Verdict: Which One Is A Better Photo Backup?

Judging all the features, Google Photos wins because of its better operations and algorithm in storing your photos. Of course, OneDrive has some good features too. But Google Photos is more efficient in many aspects. Also, most people use Google Photos.

Which is the better photo storing application, according to you? Is it Google Photos? Or is it OneDrive?
