    Err connection reset

When you try to access your website through a browser, you might come across the message err connection reset. It indicates that the device could not establish proper connection. This error message normally comes with the 101 code. In case you are using Google Chrome, you are more likely to encounter this error. However, it appears in other browsers too, displaying the message ‘The connection was reset’. However, this message does not provide any clear indication whether the issue arose from the network, server or client.

    Solution:

    • When you face this issue, make sure to check out the website functionality at the outset. Do not try to do anything with the system setup or browser right at the beginning.

    • Try and access other sites, and show whether you find this message in those places too. In case you do not find any issue, it indicates that the problem lies with a particular website.

    • However, if the problem persists, try to open the websites using a different browser. You may have to get in touch with the operator of the website, in case you find that it is occurring with a particular site.

    • Otherwise, you need to change the proxy settings. Clearing the cache of your browser may also resolve the issue instantly.

    • If the problem still persists, restart your router and check whether it is gone.

    A Network Cable Is Unplugged

Poor Ethernet cables or misbehaving device drivers may result in this error message. If you encounter this problem, you might end up losing access to your network. Particularly, this message turns out to be annoying, when someone uses wireless network. The message would appear on the screen continually, unless you get the issue fixed.

    Solution:

    • When you are not using the Ethernet network adapter, simply disable it.

    • The Ethernet cable ends might have got loose. Check out whether the adapter is connected to both these ends.

    • In case the cable has been damaged, you need to get it replaced.

    • You may have to get another adapter for the ethernet network, in case it is a PCMCIA card or removable PCI.

Duplicate Name Exists on the Network

When you start your Windows computer, you may encounter this issue, when you are using the local network. This glitch prevents the desktop to access the network, until you get it fixed. It happens when some other computer in the network has been using the same name. The duplicate name error will not allow your computer to join the network. Therefore, after starting up, your computer would function only in the offline mode.

    Solution:

    • This issue is easy to solve, and you simply need to use another name for your computer. Make sure that no other computer in the network has been using this name.

    • After you have changed the name of the device, reboot your computer. The issue will probably disappear once you repeat this process once.

    Limited or No Connectivity

While you are using a Windows shared drive and try to access any network or web page, this error message may appear in the pop-ups. Several configuration glitches or technical issues might have resulted in this error. You would also notice a yellow warning sign, indicating that you have been facing a network issue.

    Solution:

    • Verify whether or not your network is properly functional. In case you have a network issue, the following steps would help you fix it.

    • If you are using a broadband router, and the network is connected to your system, you can possibly resolve this problem.

    • The problem may have occurred if you are using wireless security or Wi-Fi rather than WEP, which are not properly configured. You need to check the security configuration of the wireless system and update it.

    • The problem may also arise due to a failure in the Ethernet cable. Replace the cable of the network temporarily and check out whether the problem gets resolved.

    • In order to reset the connection, reboot your broadband modem, router and computer together.

    • In case you find that the connection continues to be non-functional, go to the Windows Network Repair utility in your computer and run it.

    Conflict of IP Address

In general, a static IP address is used to set up the computer. Other devices connected to your network also use this IP address. At times, the computer is not able to use the network. This issue may happen, even when you are using a DHCP (dynamic addressing).

A conflict may arise between two computers that are connected to the same LAN. At times, the internet connection may have got the same IP address. This indicates that the system administrator is using one IP address for two computers.

    Solution:

    • Work on the IP address and fix it. When the address is assigned statically, it makes sure that each of the local hosts has got a unique IP address for configuration.

    • In case the device is assigned with a dynamic address, the IP address has to be released and renewed.

    • In case the DHCP server in your home router is faulty, it may cause a conflict. Upgrading the firmware of your router may resolve this issue.

You may also face some other error messages, and it is easy to resolve them too by adjusting the configurations. Evidently, you can fix most of the network error messages by yourself, if you follow the procedure presented in the respective cases. Even after that, if the issue persists, you should contact the technicians.
